B.Des Leather Design


The leather designing is a big part of the apparel fashion industry. The curriculum of B.Des (Leather Design) allows the students to get material knowledge along with the industry exposure through field trips, internships, and tannery training. The course is designed to make sure that the student can immediately join the industry after completing the education. It brings all the technical, market and export related knowledge in front of the students.

The structure of the program

It is a four-year long program focused towards the leather industry. All of the content is provided accordingly, so that, the students can easily grab and understand the leather industry.

The first year is all about providing an overall view of the different aspects of the leather designing processes.

The second year brings the understanding of the different kinds of leather materials along with their uses. The students are taught to develop their designing skills, including Fashion Illustration, Leather Processing, Field Studies, Surface techniques, Computer applications and retailing. Plus, the students are also asked to complete design projects in order to showcase their abilities.

The third year of the course opens the doors towards the advanced techniques and technologies that are used in the leather designing. Pattern making and drawing abilities of the students get enhanced during this period. Plus, they get to analyse the production of the leather industry.

The fourth and the final year allow the students to research deeper and gather expertise of the leather industry. The projects are given to the students, so that, they get to understand the working environment of the industry.

The scope in the industry

The leather industry always welcomes new talent and allow them to bring new revolutions with their creativity. After completing the course the student gets plenty of options to choose from. The areas like Product Development, Merchandising, Retail, Manufacturing holds a great chance to build a strong career.
